Story Submission Requirements

We welcome original stories, essays, personal reflections, cultural commentary, interviews, creative writing, photography, visual art and other creative expression that fits within the world of Palmwine Paper.

1. Originality

  • Submissions must be your original work.
  • We do not accept previously published work.
  • Please do not submit work currently being considered by another publication.
  • Plagiarised or AI-generated submissions presented as original work will not be accepted.

2. Word Count

  • Features & essays: 800–1,500 words
  • Culture & opinion: 600–1,200 words
  • Fashion & beauty: 500–1,000 words
  • Interviews & profiles: 800–1,500 words
  • Creative writing: up to 2,000 words
  • If your story requires a different length, you may submit it with a brief explanation.

3. Submission Format

  • Written submissions should be .doc or .docx files.
  • Include the title of your piece, your name and a short bio.
  • Photography and artwork should be high-resolution JPEG or PNG files.
  • Visual submissions should include captions, descriptions and credits where applicable.

4. Sources & Credits

  • Properly credit all sources, quotations, statistics, photographs and external material.
  • Include links to online sources where relevant.
  • If featuring another person or their work, ensure you have the necessary permission.

5. Photography & Artwork

  • Include high-resolution files, a short description, the creator or photographer’s name, credits for anyone featured, and relevant location, date or context.

6. Your Bio

  • Include a 50–100 word contributor bio, your full name, your profession, course or area of interest, and an Instagram, social handle or portfolio link where applicable.

7. Multiple Submissions

  • You may submit more than one piece, but please submit each work separately.

8. Rights & Publishing

  • You confirm the work is original and belongs to you.
  • You have permission to use any third-party material included.
  • If accepted, Palmwine Paper may edit for clarity, style, grammar and editorial consistency.
  • Palmwine Paper may publish selected submissions across its digital and/or print platforms.
  • You retain ownership of your work unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9. Editorial Selection

  • Submitting a story does not guarantee publication. Work is selected for editorial relevance, originality, quality and fit.
  • We may contact you if substantial changes are needed before publication.

10. Compensation

  • Palmwine Paper currently does not offer monetary compensation for unsolicited submissions. Selected contributors receive full byline attribution and publication across our platforms.

11. Response Time

  • We aim to respond within 2–4 weeks. Please allow this period before following up.
